Hello, I just bought the Dream Router 7 and a Flex Mini 2.5G. Your current network configuration looks like this: the Dream Router 7 is linked to the Fritzbox 7590 through Ethernet, the Gaming PC with a 2.5G card is connected via Ethernet to the Dream Router 7, the Flex Mini 2.5G switch is also connected to the Dream Router 7 over Ethernet, and the MacBook Pro M3 is connected via Ethernet to the Flex Mini 2.5G switch through Ethernet (2.5G). The goal is to run Apollo (Sunshine) on the Gaming PC using an HDMI 2.1 connection to the MacBook Pro M3, which then streams to the MacBook via Moonlight. When the MacBook connects to the Flex Mini 2.5G switch, frame drops and jitter between 10% and 20% occur, making gameplay impossible. Switching the MacBook directly to the Dream Router 7 via Ethernet seems to resolve or reduce the issue. I’ve tried solutions like QoS rules or jumbo frames, but nothing helps. Could you explain what’s happening? Are there any restrictions on the Flex Mini 2.5G? I’m not sure how to troubleshoot or pinpoint the problem. I’ve run an iperf3 test and confirmed frame drops range from 10–20% when using the switch.

Turn it off. Are you running the most recent UniFiOS and Network versions? Also, confirm both DR7 and Flex Mini are updated to the latest firmware. Are you controlling the switch using global settings or making changes directly on the device? Have you tested a different standard Ethernet cable between DR7 and Flex Mini?

Turn it off. Are you running the most recent UniFiOS and Network versions? Also, confirm both DR7 and Flex Mini are updated to the latest firmware. This appears to be functioning correctly without any changes needed. The admin panel doesn’t recommend updates, and the device seems to operate as expected. The issue might lie with the switch hardware or routing behavior when connecting the MacBook.

The linked page appears to be outdated. The Unifi console indicates the "USW Flex 2.5G 5" is set to device version 2.1.8, whereas the referenced site claims the latest version is 2.0.5 Global Settings Switch.

Here are three suggestions: Focus on the Flex, set 'Flow Control' if possible, give it a fixed IP address. Check forums for similar reports. The problem appears inconsistent across users.

It's possible the Flex system struggles with handling a burst of data due to hardware constraints. Recent updates suggest enabling "Flow Control" resolved the problem, though it may cause queuing or delays during bursts. On the client side, frame drops remain minimal at around 0.2%. I've adjusted the priority to zero since this is the main configuration, but it seems resetting Flow Control behavior. I'll keep you updated on whether the fix works in the coming days.

Unable to confirm. I own multiple older Flex Minis and haven’t encountered this issue before. On another platform, despite a 1Gbps network, some APs have multi-gig uplinks, so I enabled FC on the switches to prevent wireless clients from facing similar problems. However, the PoE switches connected to those APs are Lite 16 PoE models. If your entire path from switch to client operates at 2.5Gbps, FC might seem to resolve the matter. Be aware that sometimes unexpected behavior occurs with devices like Ubiquiti, and I’m hoping this is uncommon. Consider using returns or replacements if possible.

All components operate at 2.5Gbps and I'm primarily using Ubiquiti gear, including the cables. Would it be more beneficial to utilize the return process for a replacement? I've already filed a support ticket with them a few days ago, but I haven't received an official reply yet...

Flow Control is recommended for managing mixed traffic in networks over 1 Gbps because it efficiently handles varying negotiation and speed requirements. Additionally, if your UI account hasn’t selected Early Access, enable it—it unlocks Release Candidate and Early Access firmware versions for your devices. After this step, you’ll see release notes for those versions on community.ui.com.
