Fps never seems right.
Fps never seems right.
PC details: Motherboard model Msi PRO z790-p, CPU i9 14900k, GPU asus 5070ti, RAM T-group DDR5 6000mhz, storage unknown but 4TB drives, CPU cooler rog ryoui II, monitors two 240Hz, display performs well in games but FPS drops to around 60 even at high settings, consistently around 200+ on 1440p. I've adjusted voltage, checked temps, enabled XMP, reset PC, tried both high and low graphics settings. Still no improvement. Feeling stuck.**
Do you have any examples of games that feel off? Which overlay were you using to track FPS? Can it also display frame time? Many displays show their refresh rate when you check the OSD. What refresh rate do your screens actually run at? You might need to adjust settings to enable higher refresh rates. Good luck!
there are different games available, like apex legends, but most of them run on steam. everything seems similar. the FPS overlay I use is only in the steam settings, and I don’t think it displays frame time accurately. both monitors run at 240hz, so sometimes the games look smooth and match the FPS shown, other times it doesn’t. i’m sure my PC specs shouldn’t cause any FPS problems.
Reset your PC factory settings? What method did you use? 4TB storage? Likely NVMe. Would you mind recording a screen capture of this performance lag? Using MSI Afterburner to monitor frame times could help identify the problem, since Steam overlays aren't reliable diagnostics.
I updated my BIOS and it completely solved my FPS issue I’ve been facing. It also significantly reduced my CPU temperatures, eliminating the need for undervolting. If anyone else is experiencing this problem, updating the BIOS should have fixed it for them.
Probably running an outdated BIOS that could damage your processor because of a hardware flaw.
