Fps limited to 144fps without VSync (league)

League of legends plays at 144fps frame by frame until I press alt tab, then it resumes normally but randomly. This issue began after I connected a new monitor of the same model and brand, enabled V-sync in-game, tried disabling it, switched to free-sync, updated drivers, and the system specs are an i5-12400f with 2070, 32GB RAM, 3200MHz, plus a 2.5TB SSD and 1TB HDD.

Once it occurs, I need to press Alt+Tab for it to resolve. It didn’t happen before; I thought it was random. When I switch tabs, the FPS drops to 144 or 60, possibly to save resources. I understand it only works when I do Alt+Tab. It seems the issue appears unpredictably while playing without it. Fixing it requires Alt+Tab, so I’m trying to clarify that.

It looks odd. I’d consider disabling freesync if it’s already active, as it might be the cause.

I have no ideas anymore. Typically FPS caps, VSync and freesync lead to similar problems.

Freesync is exclusive to AMD GPUs, G-Sync works with nVidia. You have the incorrect display.

And yes, as mentioned, cutting down on the game will automatically lower its resource usage, which isn't a concern.

It's been over two years now, but I'm still facing the same issue. Just in case anyone comes across it, I discovered that changing from a borderless window to fullscreen significantly boosts the frame rate! Big Grin
