Hello there!
Let's go back to October last year when I assembled my current gaming setup. I purchased an AMD Ryzen 5 1600x, a GTX 1060 with 6GB and 16GB of RAM. The first game I launched after finishing was GTA V. It ran consistently at a solid 60 frames per second without any problems. Over the next few months, the performance dipped occasionally to the low 40s and rarely reached 60 again at the same settings. Now, after upgrading my 1060 to an RTX 2070, I’m thrilled with the results. When I started GTA and checked the FPS counter, I was shocked to see it hovering between 49 and 55 fps—well below the 60 I was expecting. Running on a 144Hz display, the frame rate isn’t capped at 60 either. I’m still using the same settings as before, which gave me smooth 60fps in the past.

I found a video showing someone playing the same game with my older hardware, and they were running at 70-90fps. My CPU temperatures seem normal—about 30°C when idle and around 60°C during gameplay. I’ve also updated the GPU drivers, but performance still lags behind benchmarks on YouTube with nearly identical specs.

It’s possible that my current setup isn’t delivering the expected performance, especially at medium to high settings with AA disabled. I’m open to suggestions, but my goal is to push these specs further. Thanks!

have you attempted removing drivers...enter safe mode, use ddu (Display Driver Uninstaller) to delete old driver files, and then install new ones?

I haven't tried that! Does it really make a difference?

In fact, there are always leftovers when updating video drivers.

I'm sure I'll give it a shot then! Thanks! Although those cards use the same drivers if I'm not wrong, it would be strange if it made a difference!

They don't employ a different driver. They rely on the identical driver package.

Oh ok! I did clean out my drivers using DDU and I did see a small improvment, however. the FPS is still sitting around 50-60 which I find really weird.

Show screenshots or list your current settings. Display screenshots while using MSI AB in the game. Make sure to indicate RAM/VRAM usage, GPU power and usage, CPU usage and temperatures.
