FPS increases in League of Legends
Sorry if the wrong section was suspected, but I’m experiencing FPS drops in League of Legends every time I play. It swings from a high max of 450 FPS down to around 170, and the game often jumps around during intense moments. This happens quite often, and it also occurred with Rocket League, though it seems more stable now. Specs: 6600k @ 4.3GHz GTX 1070, around 2000 MHz RAM (likely 16GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz). My old laptop runs it better. I turned off all game sounds thinking that might be the cause. Anyone have suggestions? All software and updates are current, and the installer is only a month old. I’ve noticed delays in League, especially when attacking, causing freezes followed by reappearances.
You're experiencing significant performance issues with your older laptop. The system struggles to maintain even basic frame rates, dropping to around 2 frames per second when under heavy load. This is likely due to the hardware limitations of your Intel Core i3 and Nvidia GT 520 graphics card.
Use tracking tools such as MSI's Afterburner to record system behavior while playing. Try running an ARAM or similar. Check for unusual activity from the CPU, GPU, or other components during the session.
The GPU appeared fine with steady performance, no noticeable spikes. The CPU, on the other hand, showed intermittent spikes and occasionally reached its voltage limits, often dropping shortly after.
I would revert to the original CPU voltage configuration for maximum overclocking. What voltage level are you currently using for the peak overclock setting on the CPU? @Perrichicken I plan to execute an ARAM to analyze CPU utilization within 20 minutes.
I5 3570K is available at a discounted price. My performance wasn’t under pressure like yours. I’ll give it another shot properly. I’m new to Afterburner; the interruptions happen when the game closes.
