FPS in Windows
Hey! You can track FPS in regular Windows without using special apps—just check your system settings or use built-in tools.
Initially, the plan was link a weak integrated GPU to a 144-240Hz monitor for office tasks. Later, I discovered that on certain models and resolutions, lag could occur when watching YouTube videos while moving the window at those refresh rates. While it delivers smooth performance in most cases, this aligns more with my needs. Would you like me to check? I currently have a 144+ integrated GPU, but it's tricky to confirm if FPS drops are visible in Windows. I thought a monitor FPS counter might help, though it only displays refresh rate, not GPU performance.
With a VRR panel, the refresh rate shown matches your actual frame rate.
Windows desktop aligns with the refresh speed automatically. Since Windows 8, this feature is required, while in Vista/Windows 7 you can turn off desktop composition to disable VSync and adjust other settings accordingly.
