As the title indicates, my frame rates have dropped significantly lately, and I’m unsure about the cause.
In titles such as Valorant, I was consistently seeing 150-160 FPS, occasionally dropping to 110-120. Now it’s averaging 60-70 FPS, sometimes reaching 90-100. This pattern is similar in other games like Mordhau, ranging from 120-140 FPS to 80-90.
System specs: CPU E3-1270 v1 (i7 2600), GPU GTX 970 (OC).
Drives: 1 SSD, 2 HDDS – 256 GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 256GB HDD.
RAM: 4x4 at 1333 MHz.
Operating system: Windows 11 Dev.
I’m using an OEM motherboard, so similar configurations apply to other components like case fans.
Below is a summary of the steps I’ve taken without success:
- Performed a virus scan using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes.
- Adjusted NVIDIA settings to prioritize maximum performance and high performance.
- Updated GPU drivers and the operating system.
- Monitored temperatures; CPU reaches 70°C, GPU up to 75°C during heavy use.
- Replaced RAM and other connectors.
- Verified available storage: SSD has 171 GB free, first HDD at 290 GB, second HDD full.
- Cleared temp files with “temp” and "%temp%".
- Disabled hardware acceleration for Discord and browsers.
- Confirmed CPU affinity settings were correct.
- Set CPU priority to High.

I don't have real-time data on my current CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. You can check this by using system monitoring tools or the device's built-in diagnostics.

CPU performance drops to 70°C during peak load, while GPU reaches 75°C under heavy usage. This represents the most challenging situation with demanding games.

I can't run userbenchmark or provide public links to its results.

The benchmark indicates that the GPU and SSD are missing. Is that accurate?

Yes, I'm confused. I allowed it to run without adjusting my mouse or keyboard.

Consider trying the game that the benchmark suggests. I recently tested it and noticed it also mentions an missing SSD issue. Just play it once, then let the timer run down before stopping.
