The system experiences intermittent frame rate drops in games, despite running benchmarks like Unigine and 3DMark TimeSpy that appear to align with expected performance. Optimization efforts including adjusting control panel settings, reinstalling drivers using DDU, and updating the BIOS have not resolved the issue. GPU temperatures remain consistently low (around 70°C under stress) while CPU temperatures fluctuate between 40-60°C. Thermal throttling is ruled out. The user suspects a failing hard drive where games are installed, referencing a similar problem identified in an online video. Initial driver compatibility issues with NVIDIA drivers were resolved using GeForce Experience. System specifications include a B450 Tomahawk motherboard, RTX 2080 graphics card, Ryzen 7 2700X processor, 16GB of RAM, and Windows 10 operating system alongside a 750W EVGA power supply.
