FPS drops on all games
Hi!
I recently assembled a PC with these specifications:
HDD: WD Blue SN550 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3600MHz 16GB
CPU: Cooler: ASUS ROG Strix LC 240
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti VENTUS XS OC
PSU: Corsair TX650M, 650W PSU

ASUS ROG Strix B460-F GAMING
CPU: Intel Core i7-10700KF
The issue I’m facing is consistent FPS drops across all games. Initially, the game ran at 400fps, but it was limited to 144fps due to monitor constraints and never exceeded that frame rate. Now, even with lower graphics settings, I notice significant drops below 144fps.
I haven’t applied any overclocking yet, although I had intended to.
Here’s what I’ve checked:
- Monitored temperatures – all within normal range.
- Updated BIOS, GPU drivers, and chipset.
- Disabled fast boot in Windows and set performance to high in power settings.
- Updated Windows to version 10.
- Removed third-party software such as GeForce Experience and the Discord overlay.
- Set GameDVR value to 0 in RegEdit on both machines.
- Ran CC Cleaner.
- Avoided using MSI Afterburner (could potentially worsen FPS issues).
PS: I made some BIOS adjustments (enabled XMP) and set the speed to 3600MHz, but it caps at around 2900MHz for some reason.
Regarding the GPU, there were no alternatives available; my plan was to upgrade later.
Anyone has any insights or solutions to this problem?

Display onscreen while playing one of the games to monitor hardware performance. Review CPU and GPU utilization rates. Examine speed details for GPU core, memory, system RAM, and CPU. Perform a malware scan, as excessive malware can consume CPU and/or disk resources, restricting access to other applications. If your 3600MHz XMP profile is active but RAM only reaches 2900MHz, it may indicate a RAM or motherboard issue.
