PC performance has dropped significantly since the build. Previously stable frame rates have slipped to around 60, sometimes dropping as low as 40 or even reaching 80 occasionally. The issue appears only in online play, while story mode remains normal. I've experimented with various settings and boosters without improvement. Overclocking the GPU didn’t help much. I’m looking for guidance on how to fix this.
It doesn't seem to be anything unusual, just typical GTA Online behavior. You should monitor your temperatures, though they probably won't be a concern. For extreme cases, reinstalling Windows might help, but it appears the issue is consistent with standard gameplay.
This situation closely matches what I've faced. However, in my case, the frame rate problems mainly occur during intense play sessions—long races and car events—where many players gather in one area. It began around mid-October. At that time, there were no updates to the game, and nothing changed on my end until suddenly it started happening. I reinstalled Windows with the latest 20H2 build and adjusted various settings. I experimented with game mode, hardware acceleration, frame rate windows, turned off Gsync, and tweaked graphics options in-game and via the NVIDIA control panel. Similar to yours, reducing graphics quality didn't help. Fellow players don’t complain either, even though many have lower-end or average hardware. My system specs are an i7-7700K with 64GB RAM and 1080p resolution. I’m currently streaming at 4K at 60fps with VSync enabled; anything above 60fps doesn’t matter much to me, but drops below 50—or even 40—are quite noticeable. My CPU is aging, but it handled the workload until now. I usually run it stock, but given these issues, I’ve increased the performance slightly recently. During gameplay, my CPU reaches 75-77% utilization, which is still manageable for me, though performance dips become apparent when it falls below 50%. Outside of gaming, I spend a lot on video editing, so any hardware hiccups would definitely stand out to me.
