FPS decreases slowly over time in every game you play?
Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice from fellow gamers.
To start with, I recently upgraded my PC (about a month ago) and here are the details:
• Antec EW 750W Gold Pro Modular Power Supply
• Intel Core i9-11900K (3.5GHz, 16MB Cache, 8 cores, 5.3GHz Turbo)
• AMD Chione M2-240R AIO CPU Liquid Cooler
• ASUS PRIME Z590-P Intel ATX Motherboard
• 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz RAM from G.skill
• ASUS Dual OC GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB VRAM
• 512GB Klev NVME SSD offering speeds over 2000MB/s
• 240GB C100 SSD
Whenever I play games, my experience is consistently poor. I usually manage around an hour before performance drops significantly. For instance, in Forza Horizon 5 on Extreme settings, I get 120FPS at first, but after about 30 minutes to an hour, the frames start to fall. At 20% GPU usage and 30FPS, the game crashes eventually. Restarting the game temporarily fixes it for a while, but restarting every 40 minutes becomes really annoying.
I’ve already sent the PC back to the seller who replaced the GPU and motherboard, but the problem remains.
I’ve also tried several online solutions:
• Reinstalling the OS multiple times (Windows 10 & 11)
• Using different SSDs for games and Windows
• Disabling XMP profiles (2666MHz), setting to 3200 or 3600
• Increasing CPU overclock to 5.1GHz all-core boost instead of 4.7GHz
• Keeping system temperatures under 75°C during play
• Expanding the paging file and managing it properly
• Overclocking the GPU
• Setting GPU to performance mode with physical switch on
• Updating BIOS
• Resetting CMOS
• Disconnecting front USB ports, unplugging all hubs and extenders
• Reinstalling GPU and RAM
• Ensuring all drivers are up to date
• Testing the previous GPU driver version
• Removing the GPU driver via DDU and installing a new one without GeForce
• Turning off Discord, Steam, and Game Bar overlays
• Disabling Game mode and capturing
• Switching power plan to maximum performance
• Adjusting NVIDIA 3D settings globally and in programs (V-sync On/Off)
• Setting NVIDIA 3D to Max performance
• Using G-sync with on/off toggle
• Performing a full SSD defrag
• Running sfc /scannow, DISM repair, and chkdsk HDD errors
• Scanning for bad sectors on both SSDs
• Confirming correct speeds for the SSDs
• Using Microsoft memory diagnostic tool
• Reinstalling and repairing all games
• Disabling non-Windows processes and services
• Plugging PC directly into a standard power outlet instead of a surge protector
This is everything I’ve tried so far without success. All the games I play are affected, so it seems this might be a general issue.
The titles include DOTA 2, Battlefield 2042, COD: Warzone, Grounded, and Forza Horizon 5.
It’s really frustrating, and I’d appreciate any suggestions since I’m at my limit.
