I updated the BIOS on both ASUS and Gigabyte systems. Clearing the CMOS, removing the battery, and there was nothing left.

I found this interesting idea but haven’t tested it myself. I tried connecting the headers directly into the motherboard via the splitter and USB hub included, but I’m not sure about using it as a simple cooler. I’ll give it a shot to see how it performs.

The fans operate fully, yet temperatures are higher than usual. I understand the newest models perform well, but a 95 model can easily reach 100°C.

The pump likely operates at a low speed. You can manage it using the 3-pin fan cable, which outputs tach signals in the manual. Switch the fan header to DC control since it isn’t PWM.

I give it a chance again. I changed the formatting once more last night. This time I went with Windows 10 instead of 11, but that didn’t make a difference. Tonight I repositioned the CPU just in case there was dust or thermal paste left over, though everything looks clean. When I tried launching a game, it crashed to the desktop right after the title screen appeared. I’m worried about losing parts that might still be fine but are close to being unusable. Since I can’t figure out what’s wrong, the only solution is to replace every part and start fresh. The problem is I don’t have the funds for that. I’ve already invested over $1000 trying to fix it. A friend will come over tomorrow to use his power supply and check what happens. But I doubt it’ll help. Everyone says I should sell and switch to a console, but I won’t. I don’t want to drop from 150fps to 60 or 30 and lose access to mods or my Steam account with 700 games. That’s not an option. I put a lot of money into this PC because of a personal tragedy—my mom was killed after being hit by a car. So I wanted to build something special without worrying about money. I’ve upgraded everything: monitors, chair, desk, all new peripherals. I’ve got nine Corsair LL fans and two Corsair RBG strip kits. I used to have 64GB RAM until I had to upgrade to 32GB, and then I spent around $5k plus another $1k trying to get it working properly. It’s been a double blow. I just don’t understand why this is happening. I’ll try his liquid cooler tomorrow after the PSU, but if that doesn’t work, then everything’s over. At that point, nothing left to do—every component would need replacing, and there’d be no escape.

I signed up for an account just to post this note. I have the exact same board (Gigabyte Z790 Elite X WiFi 7 rev 1.0) and I'm seeing similar BSOD (mine is bugcheck code 10) crash. When I stream a youtube video I get it in pretty much a couple of minutes, consistently. I was almost ready to send the board back when I saw your thread so I thought I give it a try. So I set the perfdrive (horrible name) setting to spec enhanced first, and that alone did not solve the problem. Then I changed the turbo ratios, but since I have an i5-13600k instead of your i7, my default numbers are lower, but I went ahead and reduced them by 1 (like you did), but that also didn't work for me. I didn't bother reducing and testing any further, maybe there's a setting that will work, dunno, and honestly no one should have to do that if they're just using stock cpu and default bios settings. But I digress. I read somewhere that disabling C-State might help, so I did that, and it did help. I was able to run cinebench and stream a video for an hour without crashing. So, I'm pretty happy about that, but I can't explain why that helps, and not sure if I should be worried of something fundamentally wrong with this board. As another data point, this thread is interesting: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processor...301#M68369 I haven't tried it, but if I run into more BSODS I might give it a try. I don't fully understand all the nuances here, but if you or someone else do, it would be great to sum up what might be going on, and whether this is a software issue or a hardware problem. Basically I want to know if I should return the board (hassle) or live with it. A lot of Gigabyte Aorus Z790 owners are having the same problem. Hope this is useful.

It seems you encountered repeated BSODs, especially when the system was idle while you were away. The same bugcheck code 0xa appeared less often this time, but a new code 0x139 (KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE) showed up with an event: Event ID 56 from the Application Popup couldn't be located. It might mean the relevant component isn't installed or the installation is damaged. You can reinstall or fix it locally. If the issue started on another machine, save the display details with the event. The message resource exists but isn't found in the table. Progress will depend on further troubleshooting steps.
