Hello everyone, My partner uses a laptop that ran Sims 4 well before Windows 10 was available. After upgrading recently, she encountered issues where the game keeps loading the 'EA' screen and then crashes. The system also freezes, making it hard to open Task Manager or switch programs with Alt+Tab. The only solution so far is a hard reset. At first I thought it was just a minor bug from bloatware, so I considered a clean Windows 10 install to see if Sims would work again and restore the laptop to its former state. Unfortunately, that didn’t help at all—the Sims still crash right after launching. I’ve tried various workarounds online, like booting in compatibility mode, disabling proxy services, repairing files, and adjusting settings, but none resolved the problem. I’m hoping someone can offer advice on what might be causing this and how to fix it so she can enjoy her game once more. Thanks for your help, Matt.

Last time we performed a fresh setup using a USB drive containing Windows 10, followed by reinstalling Sims 4.

Consider potential driver problems by reviewing manufacturer websites for Windows 10 support. Or switch back to an earlier version of Windows.

She updated the drivers, yet launching Origin still causes the laptop to crash. A hard reset appears to be the only solution.
