Fortnite struggles with low frame rates and stuttering, making gameplay difficult or impossible.
Hello, I'm facing some Fortnite performance issues. I've tried various solutions but haven't seen improvement. Here are my system details: GPU - GeForce RTX 3070, CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5700, RAM - 16GB, frame rate stays steady around 160 until movement, then drops to 50-80 and rebounds. I'm using performance mode and tested both DX11 and DX12 with low settings, but nothing works. My CPU usage is about 60% and GPU about 15%. I've even reset my PC and still have the same problem. Any tips or fixes would be greatly appreciated!
The game is likely using an HDD, which can cause stuttering during movement as new areas load. Running only 16GB of RAM may also be an issue for Fortnite. If your CPU is an R7 5700 rather than the 5700X, that could further affect performance. The R7 5700 has half the L3 cache compared to the 5700X, making it slower in some scenarios. For gaming, the R5 5600 might actually perform better since it offers more L3 cache. It’s possible one of these factors is limiting Fortnite’s speed.
yeah, yeah, but if you look at that even the x3d has ~65fps drops*, frequently... im just saying i have never seen a fortnite video (current version) that doesn't lag and stutter like hell... the only difference a cpu can make is how big/frequent the drops are, but the issue persists throughout... Atp its not a bug its a feature, hate it or love it, and I'm guessing the monitor being used might have a bigger impact than cpu... some monitors handle these uneven fps better than others (and that's regardless of any vrr tech) * actually the none 3d seems to have lower drops overall? its a wash lol edit: good point about the ram, that may improve it slightly, who knows
You have the 5700 but no extra info available. Still, you could try optimizing your GPU settings or checking for background processes that might be draining resources.
You might consider pushing your CPU and RAM to their limits, though actual gains are usually modest—perhaps around 15% depending on luck with hardware. Ensure XMP/EXPO is activated so your RAM operates at its maximum capacity. Activating PBO and disabling power caps can act as a controlled overclock with low instability risk. Capping your frame rate can also provide the CPU with more breathing room, reducing stutter and its effects. To enhance GPU performance, increase related settings, provided you’re not constrained by GPU limits; most adjustments shift the workload to the GPU without significant drops in overall performance.
