Hi everyone, My friend recently played Fortnite without disabling his VPN and ended up having his hardware ID blocked. He’s a fair player who isn’t a cheater and has reached out to Epic Games, who told him they couldn’t help. He’s tried several methods he found online, in no specific sequence: 1. Updated hardware ID via the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Identifiers) 2. Set up a new Epic Games account plus a Gmail address 3. Swapped his MAC address 4. Altered the Windows host name 5. Modified the Windows hardware ID 6. Reinstalled Fortnite (obviously) 7. Restarted Windows 10 For many of these steps, he applied them all at once—for example, changing the MAC address would also require updating the hardware ID before creating a new Epic Games account to avoid starting from a banned one. I’ve heard that Fortnite bans aren’t based on IP addresses, and he mentioned he can play on his PS4 without issues, which supports the notion that the restriction comes from hardware rather than network location. Since he can still use his PC but not his current setup, are there any additional options he could explore to regain access?

I frequently use a VPN, so what should I be focusing on first? Also, Epic wouldn’t deny doing anything if there’s evidence. Consider getting a new mobile card.

It seems unclear. He mentioned there was no further explanation for his ban, and I believe he should be honest about avoiding cheating or hacking. The notification he receives after being removed from the Battle Bus includes a VPN as one of the reasons for the ban.

Do you need the exact details of the ban reason? Please confirm. Given his recent actions, it seems possible he was penalized for attempting to bypass the restriction, making reversal more challenging if the initial rule was limited to using a VPN.

I have a plan for his ban. Try another activity. When I noticed the game, I imagined The Hunger Games, which focuses mainly on the final two films—so why would a game based on the first one be appealing?

I'm not claiming they cheated through a VPN, but the phrasing suggests multiple issues are being addressed. Using a VPN on your own device might allow traffic manipulation. In Fortnite, aiming relies on precise timing—you could trigger delays or packet loss to simulate intentional misses.
