Hello, I’m seeking assistance with an issue concerning Fortnite. During public matches, my latency frequently spikes to 500 when I'm engaged in combat or close to numerous other players. I believe my internet connection is adequate, considering speeds of 40 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Despite reinstalling the game, this problem persists. Here are my computer specifications: AMD A10-7890k with a Radeon R7 graphics card, 12 compute cores (4C+8G) running at 4.10 GHz, 16GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz, and a GTX 750TI.

It’s probably your web connection causing the problem. See if multiple devices within your home are accessing the internet simultaneously when you’re playing games. Increased internet usage can lead to increased latency.

You could try downloading another game, such as Mount & Blade: Warband – it’s available without cost and displays your latency directly within the game.

Furthermore, confirm that you're connected with players located in your geographic area. Playing against individuals from the United States, for instance, would likely result in a higher latency due to geographical distance.

Finally, utilize the following website to assess your true download and upload rates: https://www.speedtest.net/

Fortnite requires a minimum of 3 megabits per second for download speed.

My current download rate is 38 megabits per second, and my upload speed is 8 megabits per second. I’ve tested various games, and the latency is consistent there. My ping also improves in Fortnite when I disable Discord. I believe this is linked to the game’s updated physics engine.
