Fortnite causes PC to go black and restart when I open it.
I assembled my PC in 2020 and have consistently run Fortnite and other titles without trouble. By late August 2022, I noticed problems with launching games like Fortnite, causing crashes and forced restarts. I removed and reinstalled GPU drivers several times without success. Various driver versions didn’t resolve the issue. The game only restarts when playing, unlike when using browsers or Discord. Notably, I own sleeved cable extensions from Asia Horse. Initially assumed it was GPU drivers or a Windows update, but couldn’t pinpoint the root cause. I’m currently using Adrenalin 22.8.2 on Windows 11. Hardware Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X, G.Skill Trident Z Neo (2x16GB DDR4-3600), Asrock X570, Taichi ATX board (BIOS 4.80), Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 5700 XT, 8GB Thermaltake Toughpower, 750W RGB, 80+ Gold certified.
Review the Windows error logs. Do you have an extra drive available to download Windows for a fresh setup? Sometimes issues accumulate or updates clash with existing systems.
Reviewed the application logs in the event viewer and noticed a CertificateServicesClient-CertEnroll issue. Attempting to reinstall Windows as instructed, but I’ll need to buy a new drive.
Have you attempted to recreate the problem after removing this cable extension? It’s not unusual for such extensions to trigger unexpected reboots.
I'll give it another shot, thanks for the idea. If it fails, I may have to reinstall Windows.
It appears the issue has been resolved. I plan to conduct more extensive testing after work. The previously unstable programs are now running without crashing. Thank you for the tip. If it doesn’t work, I may need to reinstall Windows.
I hope this resolves your issue. If it works for you, remember to note that comment as the answer. For colorful PC cables, consider purchasing replacement cables rather than extension ones. The additional length influences the current flow and extensions often use thinner or larger gauge cables which also impact performance. Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB Individually Sleeve Modular Cable Set from modDIY.com could be a good option. But if you're unsure, go with the original cables.
