My computer is experiencing performance issues when playing Fortnite and GTA 5, consistently struggling to load graphics despite using the lowest possible settings. My CPU usage remains high, frequently reaching 80-90%, even with the graphics settings minimized. I have attempted various troubleshooting methods without success. My system specifications are: AMD A6-6400K 3.9GHz Dual-Core, ASRock FM2A55M-DGS Micro ATX FM 2 Motherboard, Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory, Seagate Barracude 1TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive, and EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB Superclocked. I am seeking advice on strategies to reduce CPU usage percentages.

GTA’s performance issues stem from its design, prioritizing main thread speed over other threads responsible for tasks like background rendering. Implementing a frame limiter, as demonstrated in the linked video at 2:18, can address this problem.

Use sparingly. Monitor processor temperature. Defragment hard drive. Scan for malicious software.

You are playing games that may utilize up to eight CPU threads, while your system only has two. Do not anticipate significant performance gains.

GTA’s performance issues stem from its design, prioritizing main thread speed at the expense of other threads like background rendering. Implementing a frame limiter, as demonstrated in the linked video, offers a solution. Alternatively, thread adjustments are possible but discouraged due to Rockstar’s enforcement policies.
