Hey there! It sounds like you're thinking of a USB-based installation device. Those are often referred to as USB installers or media players. They let you load operating systems directly from a USB drive and boot them up. Let me know if that helps clarify things!

Alternative to Windows Media Creation Tool, you can use the official Microsoft support page for installation media guidance.

I don’t understand the name of the device or if it was ever known, but I’m really curious about it, so maybe someone does!

He mentioned there are various options, like different interfaces and operating systems. Same here!

You can make multi-boot drives that can load different ISOs, but the thing that draws me to it is that by my understanding of OP, it has its own screen that you can choose the ISO on instead of going to a manu on the PC.

I just got this a few days back and have already received it. Honestly, it’s amazing! I installed my Monster LeMans SSD with all my ISOs and it boots directly from them as if they were on an external drive. It also identifies itself as both an optical and external hard drive when started. You can switch it to ODD mode to avoid accidentally formatting the disk during Windows installation. I’m giving it a solid thumbs up! Thanks!

You mentioned the correct information and added that you installed an SSD. That should help!
