Your experience was smooth. You likely transferred the necessary files and set up the system properly. The process didn’t require just copying the key to Microsoft’s site and burning it onto a USB. There were additional steps involved. The code functioned successfully on the first attempt. A W10 is available for reservation.

I obtained them earlier, but I can't verify the reservation part of Win 10. It functioned perfectly. I recommend buying a G2A shield for a bit more money.

You haven't tried G2A yet, but you can visit Microsoft's site, download the Win 8.1 USB installer for 8.1, and boot from it. Then enter your product key.

some keys on those devices are OEM, Microsoft won’t allow you to use an OEM key to download the ISO. it’s best to get a standard key—they supply those—and they’ll let you install Windows but won’t unlock it automatically. you’ll still need to purchase a license to activate. For Windows 10, the reservation should work; if not, consider asking for a refund and including the G2A shield in your order.
