Based on what you shared, it seems like your thermal throttling is likely due to overheating after checking the internal components of your PC. The rest of your specifications might be relevant for understanding the issue further.
The game varies greatly in performance, from modest to high settings. Running at 1080p with low settings is quite smooth, while boosting to 1440p makes it more demanding. Unlike titles like Ubishit where low settings struggle, Wow performs well even at lower resolutions.
It remains functional even on older computers. You're also playing at 1440p resolution.
Before Legion, we saw many visual improvements and higher-resolution textures. It was smooth at over 250 frames per second in the open areas of the earlier maps. However, during large group encounters or in busy city zones, performance dropped significantly—sometimes to around 30 fps on a 25-person raid or major city. The older rig struggled even more, often not exceeding 100 fps. I adjusted my fan curve slightly on my Hyper 212 Evo, but it still reached about 75-80°C stock settings. I also used a Phanteks P400 with six 6 sp120 RGB fans and an EVGA G2 550w. See the earlier discussion for more details.
It seems like you're planning an 18-player raid on Swtor or PvP. You might face performance issues due to CPU limitations, especially at higher player counts. The game runs on a single thread, which can become a bottleneck under heavy load.
