I’m starting with the note that I’m a Computer Technician and not certified by Microsoft—something I aim to change soon. I handle diverse environments with multiple domains and operating systems. A common problem we face is GPO corruption on user devices, which breaks group policies even though the internet remains functional. I’m wondering if there’s a way in Windows to restore the most recent GPO copy without network access. Here’s a meme to show appreciation:

After installing the laptop, set up a Windows restore point. If issues arise, revert to the backup image.

Set up a local GPO backup with LGPO.exe. Use Windows 10 or later, create the necessary policy file, then run LGPO.exe with elevated privileges. This generates a folder containing the registry.pol files. Copy those files and place lgpo.exe in system32. Execute lgpo.exe with the target directory of the registry.pol files to apply the settings. Restart the system to complete the process.
