I was invited today during our Christmas Eve church service about their computer system for streaming services on Facebook/YouTube. I mentioned I’d handle it after the weekend. I own some outdated hardware, including a 5600X and a B450 motherboard. Should I upgrade to something with more cores for smoother streaming, or stick with what I have? Additionally, I have an old 9700K unit that I use for my kids’ PC—do I consider swapping it out for a better option if needed? Thanks!

The 5600x resolution should work well. You seem to be fine with streaming without issues.

AMD processors or Nvidia graphics cards might currently lead in performance. Similar to streaming or recording, these options work well, but for heavy workloads more cores can be beneficial. The 5600X seems suitable for gaming setups, though other factors come into play. Software compatibility is another concern. Additionally... using outdated components like the 5600X? Usually I’d use nvenc with an NVIDIA GPU, which means the CPU wouldn’t be a big concern.

Nvidia's vending by Nvidia is quite solid, you can find details about it online. It mainly targets GTX/RTX graphics cards (not the base 1650), and older models did work but were less advanced. For more info, check the link provided. If you're interested, explore the surrounding content as well. It looks like Intel and AMD CPUs are also performing well there.
