I own two 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks and a 1660 Super. Just starting out with PC building, unsure what else to mention. I intend to overclock later when adding a water cooler. I use the machine for gaming and aim to stream and create videos.
The low-end MSI X570 is a major issue and the x570 UD from Gigabyte barely holds up. The Pro4 series from ASRock works alright, though its only advantage is an mATX board. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/9t7p...x570-unify Unify, as it’s essentially just about right for around 300£. You can choose to save money. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/whMT...-x570-plus TUF gaming is more than enough. If IO demands aren’t a concern, some B550 models would also suffice.
Thank you for the feedback! I understood you were referring to any X570 models with higher prices. A few budget-friendly options are actually good, but the MSI X570 entry-level boards often have poor VRM performance and aren't recommended. Avoid them if possible. @Wilmotheworm
These options cover nearly all essential features. For a bit more investment, consider the X570 Tomahawk. For an even higher end, opt for the X570 Unify. Unless you intend to push a 3950X, it’s unlikely worthwhile unless you upgrade your RAM or other components. Regarding memory, what are your specifications? MSI’s sub-Tomahawk X570 boards perform poorly when paired with a Ryzen 9, while Gigabyte’s X570 UD and Gaming X are competitive. Asrock’s Pro4 and Phantom Gaming (random number placeholder) are also budget-friendly choices, relying on discrete MOSFETs and being questionable for a Ryzen 9—especially with PBO enabled.
