He didn't mention a budget, which is why I quickly proposed a much better alternative.

For the cost of the 8350, an i5 would be a good option, though the final decision is yours.

Sure, I understand you're considering alternatives to the i5 for your needs.

I’d like to acquire this CPU since I plan to stream, edit, and render videos. If I weren’t doing those tasks, I’d choose an i5 instead.

It was a decent processor for its era, but consider that it launched in 2012 and is showing signs of wear. A brand new i5 with a 97 MHz socket would offer better performance at a comparable cost. For the graphics, the R9 280(x) remains a solid option for 1080p.

The i5-4690k surpasses the FX8350 in speed and power. It's a more modern CPU compared to the older FX8350, and it's especially advantageous as AMD releases newer chips. For tasks like live streaming and rendering, the 4690k offers better performance.

I'm not sure if the FX 8350 is the best choice... Perhaps...

It appears the difference is usually just a few seconds, perhaps a minute or two, especially for the FX-8350. I believe you're weighing a fairly simple trade-off, as a budget i5 performs well in most situations. Streaming doesn’t seem to heavily tax the CPU, since I can handle it smoothly with an older Core i5. Honestly, my upload speed is so limited that streaming at low quality likely won’t stress my processor much. Overall, I suspect the performance gap between these chips wouldn’t be significant.

Avoid the low-quality 8350 model. It works for some games, but an i5 would be better. The i3 handles GTA V more smoothly.
