I own a Hyper 212 evo paired with my new CPU and was contemplating an upgrade for the cooler to enhance overclocking potential. After some research, I reached out to the community for advice. Here are some factors to keep in mind:
1. The case is the NZXT Phantom 410
2. The motherboard is the Asus Strix ROG X370
3. The RAM is Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8gb)
4. A USB 3.0 hub card is available in the top slot
5. 140mm and 240mm radiator coolers are excluded due to current fan placement unless they seem worthwhile.
6. I currently have three 140mm fans and four 120mm fans installed, with all but two having blue LED indicators.
7. AM3 compatibility is possible thanks to the motherboard.
8. AIO or air cooling options are acceptable for me.
9. I haven’t specified a budget, but I had 101 store credit available at the time of writing this post.

The Ryzen 1600 (non-X) comes with its own cooler, which is quite good. The 212 model would actually underperform. You shouldn't face any issues achieving a 3.5+ghz overclock from the 1600 using that cooler—spending extra for a larger one only adds a few hundred MHz. If you had chosen the X version, I'd recommend using the 212 briefly and considering a bigger one later.

I don't recall the exact place where I saw it, but there was a comparison made between the stock wraith cooler and a 212. I remember the 212 performed very well, staying about 20 degrees cooler. I think having a 212 would be more than sufficient (I currently own one too—it's a solid cooler).
