I run my Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube services on a Windows 7 machine. I’ve been pushing this old system nonstop for over ten hours, and it still felt like I was using DSL back in 2001. Recently, we experienced three separate power interruptions. Despite the heavy snowfall—two feet in just three hours—and strong winds of 35-100 mph, the lines stayed above ground. The pine trees and wet maple just bent; it’s like they’re made of oil. Rain was pouring, and Windows kept saying it would update itself when the power failed. I’d have liked a free update if my connection held.

I’m at home, so I don’t have physical OS copies. My PC has 98 and 2k specs, but I bought a Windows 7 disk for $149 with a student discount—hard to find now. The system still acts strange. Files kept moving but never disappearing; 2957 were replaced, all restore points vanished. Firefox crashed, Opera failed, and even shortcuts led to confusion.

After a reboot following a major software change, it took about 21 minutes to get everything running smoothly again. Now my PC is good except the other one is coming soon. The drop caused many issues on the fun machine. I moved 4379 files, but none were deleted.

This happened to me, and I’m not alone—my friends and family experienced similar problems. I tried calling for help, but it took too long and no one could assist. I’m planning to reinstall Firefox and MIE now, as I don’t want to waste time searching through broken folders. It’s frustrating when updates seem to cause more trouble than they solve.

Why does Microsoft do this? I’d have asked for help sooner, but it would have taken longer. No Opera or Firefox support, just endless errors. I’m not sure if anyone else in my circle faced the same issues—except maybe my uncle Thomas, who worked at NASA and later at Raytheon. He’s been through a lot, but I guess that doesn’t stop Microsoft from making things complicated.
