I constructed this machine many moons back and still couldn’t resolve the problem. The setup works, but it doesn’t match the original design. Right now I’m assembling a new rig and will adapt this for a home media environment. I own two 2x4 GB drives, yet Windows displays 8GB installed while only four are actually usable. CPU-Z lists both sticks but in single-channel mode. I’ve tried everything I could think of and searched the internet for fixes. This issue won’t be ignored until it’s fixed. AMD FX-6100

The system displays only 4GB of RAM due to a configuration issue. When using single-channel slots, both drives appear together, while the window shows 8GB total.

It looks like this RAM channel is not functioning properly. At the moment, it's best to stick with using it as a single channel.

I can insert one stick into each slot and it works properly.

Yes, an inactive channel doesn't always stop the system from starting. It might cause problems such as unrecognized items or slower performance

There’s nothing else to fix except a new board. The odd thing is Windows detecting both cables but marking only half as reserved.

Regrettably, the only solution is a new board.
