Following several updates, the games began to malfunction.
Not long ago, my computer began acting up. Games would suddenly stop, and error messages appeared, but they didn’t provide clear solutions. It seems the problems started after I installed a Windows update, changed my BIOS settings, and updated my graphics drivers together. Following that, Cyberpunk 2077 (unmodified) would frequently crash during gameplay—sometimes when starting, sometimes in the middle of scenes, even while exploring Night City. I switched to other titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022), but they also experienced crashes right after loading character models. At first, I suspected Activision’s involvement, though testing single-player games such as Last of Us Part 1 and Life is Strange: True Colors revealed similar issues shortly after launch. Except for Street Fighter 6, which always started without problems, I kept encountering crashes. I attempted to reinstall drivers, cleaned them thoroughly, and even reinstalled the OS, but nothing resolved the issue. I ran diagnostics on RAM and system health, performed stress tests, and reinstalled Windows, yet problems persisted. Various tests—benchmarks, memory checks—came back normal. Some games would stop crashing after a RAM swap, but my White Whale (CP2077) kept failing. Eventually, I removed one RAM stick to check for hardware faults. With only one stick installed, CoD ran smoothly, CP2077 crashed much less, and most games worked fine. This led me to suspect a memory or BIOS problem, possibly linked to the recent updates. I’m open to advice from others who’ve faced similar challenges—what tests should I try next?
Have you experienced blue screen issues too? The same problem has occurred to me, and I also changed my RAM. It started after the update. I believe it’s a significant memory leak. I’ve been searching for others with this exact error, and it seems mods might be involved, though I’m certain my folders are free of them. Did you purchase from GOG or Steam? I bought from GOG as well, and I think that could also play a role, but I’m not sure. I’ve lost track of how many reports I’ve submitted, but some days are better than others.
