The name really captures the essence. I'm curious about the right sequence for installing updates and where to find them. I thought Windows Update should come last, but chipset drivers from the motherboard maker are the first. What about the other components in between? I just set up my first PC and want to avoid mistakes.

As you mentioned, I’d handle the chipset first, then proceed with all the other system drivers. After that, I’d apply Windows updates and finally install any software you choose. No matter the order, it should be manageable without major issues.

I navigate through chipset, BIOS, GPU, network, audio, and everything else—though I’m not sure it’s that crucial

Sure, I understand. Let's get this done.

I typically set up a few drivers and then hold off until Windows updates are available before restarting. That means I can only run about four installations at once.

It's not crucial with win8 either. I still prioritize updating the BIOS/UEFI before installing Windows, as changes could lead to problems. Typically I run the Windows update first and then disable driver updates since they take time and I won't be using them much until they finish.
