I've been playing Rocket League for roughly two weeks, and everything seems to be running smoothly except for some occasional ping problems. These issues mostly disappeared when I switched lobbies. Today, however, every match I start has a steady ping above 300, only dropping to around 200 at times. I initially assumed my connection was weak in the lobby, thinking maybe my friend—who uses the same internet provider and lives nearby—had a similar problem with about 30 ping. That didn’t resolve it. Then I checked my internet speed using Speedtest.net and PingTest.net, both showing around 35 ping. When I switched back to Rocket League, the performance remained poor. I tried Minecraft to test for latency on other servers, but it worked fine there too. Now I’m trying to figure this out further. My rig is connected via Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet, so I didn’t want to invest in a long cable. I’m hoping someone can help me with a solution.

Do you connect to servers in your area? You can set this in the search options.

Latency optimizer 4 seems questionable; perhaps just an updated NAT driver would help. Are you using Wi-Fi or directly connected via Ethernet?

Also, because I'm guessing you're playing rocket league through steam, whereas minecraft isn't through steam... have you checked to make sure nothing is downloading in the background? Windows up to date? Antivirus running? More people at your home using the internet at once? There are a lot of different variables to slow down your connection, but you should never need "special software" to keep your network speeds consistent.

WiFi causes packet loss, which may make ping times appear worse. The delay in RL feels similar to typical ping delays, but you might notice the disconnect icon appearing regularly.
