Flash the updated BIOS version designed for Xeon chips onto your motherboard.
Hi, I just started experimenting with a Xeon mod for an LGA775 board. I managed to adjust the socket and added the CPU modification (the adapter). The processor warmed up but didn’t start. I verified my motherboard supports quad-core CPUs. I removed the BIOS chip and used a universal programmer to transfer the .bin file to a .rom format. Then I applied the microcodes with MMTOOL. The main issue is creating a bootable USB for BIOS updates. My board lacks a USB flash port and doesn’t support selecting a drive in BIOS. I can’t use software on my Lubuntu installation to flash it. Please help me with this. The model is an EMEON XEON 5440.
I use this usually https://github.com/flashrom/flashrom Theres a good guide on how to use it on libreboot wiki Keep in mind if you flask your internal rom with it and reboot and it doesnt boot anymore, then you will need another computer and a eeprom programmer to recover.
