While experimenting with my ThinkPad's BIOS chip, I unintentionally damaged it during assembly. I ordered a replacement from AliExpress, which has now arrived. However, I’m still unable to update the new chip. Since my main operating system is Linux, I attempted to use flashrom but encountered issues—always receiving the message: "Using clock_gettime for delay loops (clk_id: 1, resolution: 1ns). No EEPROM/flash device found." It’s noted that flashrom can’t write if the chip isn’t detected automatically. After posting on Reddit for assistance, someone recommended alternative software, but all links pointed to Windows tools. I borrowed a Windows PC and installed the CH341 drivers; now I can read from the chip but not flash or erase it. When trying to flash, AsProgrammer asks if I want to unprotect the chip. If yes, it appears to unlock it, but it gets stuck and doesn’t proceed. If no, nothing happens at all. Clicking "no" shows an activity indicator that suggests something is happening, yet the process stalls indefinitely. I’m beginning to suspect the issue might lie with the programmer itself, though I’m not sure what to do next.
