I own a X570 Phantom Gaming 4 WiFi ax equipped with an R7 2700 CPU, and I need to update the BIOS so it supports the R7 5800X. Since I don’t have a 3000 series CPU, and AsRock doesn’t provide clear guidance, I’m figuring this out on my own.
Just plug the files onto your USB, turn off the PC, go into UEFI, choose the USB as the boot device, save your settings, close and it will launch itself. Make sure the system stays powered throughout.
If your motherboard allows, you can update the BIOS using a USB stick. Most people think updating the BIOS is the same as flashing, which should work if supported. Just try it out. To proceed, connect a different computer to AsRock’s site, download the newest BIOS file, insert the USB drive in FAT32 format, restart your PC, and enter the BIOS settings—look for advanced or tool options. Yes, most don’t update from a 2000 series CPU. All others come from 3000s or better with a BIOS flash button.
