Fixing texture issues for Bioshock Infinite at high resolutions 3325x1781 and 4K
Hello, I'm facing some issues only with Bioshock. I own a 3GB GTX 580 and use DSR for downscaling images. I'm experiencing strange texture problems at different resolutions. At 4K it shows normal maps instead of actual textures, and at 3325x1781 objects like vending machines or signs behave similarly. The GPU runs smoothly at 30-45 FPS. Anyone have any ideas or solutions? I'll share the images later as they're large.
Check GPUZ or a similar GPU monitoring app to observe VRAM usage. Look for caps or throttling affecting texture loading.
I'm not seeing the problem here... I don't mean to be snarky but it looks fine to me.
You can clearly observe it in the bricks, among other details.
They seem like remnants from the streamers and other effects. A typical map appears differently: EDIT: I’m also unsure if it was just Source, but I remember when I pushed texture detail too high on a GeForce FX card, sometimes the images would revert to a magenta checkerboard pattern. Likely other games might default to some generic texture instead of stuttering to get textures in and out.
Mip Map refers to the smallest resolution version of a texture used in games. In this scenario, 4K only displays the lowest possible resolution of those textures. If you can't see the details from the two images provided, it may indicate an issue with the game or your graphics settings. At this stage, it seems the game might be behaving oddly or your drivers could be affecting the display.
I resolved the issue by clearing my previous save files and configuration settings for the game.
