Fixing RAM timing settings
Fixing RAM timing settings
Hi there, here are my computer details: I have a Corsair PSU, an MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard, a max 8GB RAM stick (2x4), AMD Ryzen 3600X CPU, and a Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT GPU. Basically, let's say everything works perfectly right now using my DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz with timings like 18-22-22-22-42 when I turn on XMP mode. Can I actually get down to 16 or 17 CAS latency and even better timings if I keep the same speed? Also, what other changes should I make?
You can check out this link for a free Ryzen DRAM calculator at: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/dow...lator.html
Thanks for letting me know, but I am not sure if that calculator is really a good idea or if it will break my memory controller.
If it works, then no worries. I did the exact same thing with my Kingston RAM. XMP for 3600MHz said it should be set to Cl18, but I changed it to Cl16 and performance went up a lot. Ryzen likes fast memory and low levels like this too, plus dual channel works best.
