Fixing Performance Issues in Mafia 3
Fixing Performance Issues in Mafia 3
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing significant performance issues with Mafia 3—it constantly lags regardless of my graphics and resolution configurations. I'm only achieving approximately 25-30 frames per second, even on low settings and high settings alike. Here are my PC specifications: AMD Radeon RX 580 with 8GB of VRAM, 16GB of RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processor.
Mafia 3 utilizes aggressive visual effects resulting in a dated, brownish appearance with hazy textures and subdued colors and reflections. A graphics modification proved beneficial for me, not only resolving these issues but also improving overall performance considerably.
Installation can be somewhat complex; however, this tutorial successfully worked for me.

However, subsequent updates to Mafia 3, intended to address certain visual flaws, unfortunately introduced even more graphical issues. The game’s problems with its visuals are a greater concern than any performance limitations, particularly on Windows 10’s later versions. Frequently, players encounter disturbing black triangles appearing around characters—these appear as noticeable graphical blemishes. Prior to the latest revisions, these anomalies were largely confined to dimly lit shops. Now, they occur at nearly any location, including open environments.
It’s a regrettable situation considering the game's overall quality otherwise.
