Hello, yesterday my partner decided she wanted to restart her Mac, so she wiped the operating system. Before she thought about what to do next, she deleted the OS. Now when we try to reinstall it, the message says "objective not available." A quick search showed me that YOSEMITE 10.10 is no longer available. I’m now wondering what I should do to reinstall the OS again. I thought I’d create a bootable USB for the Mac, and I have a Windows 10 PC to help with this. But I’m not sure how to proceed or where to get the YOSEMITE installation files.

You need to make a bootable USB from your Mac or Hackintosh. You can get the old OS files if you saved them earlier—they’re no longer in the App Store but you can find them in your purchases and download 10.10.

I don’t have another Mac, and I’m not sure she’s ever installed it before. So what do we do now?

I managed to get another Mac from a friend running YOSEMITE 10.10. Next, I need to find the files I require and create a bootable USB drive.

She removed the operating system from OSX, which prevents formatting the drive that already has it installed.

she used cmd+f during a reboot and accessed the OS-X Tool. when attempting to reinstall via the tool, it displays "objective not available." now she’s stuck trying to restore a 10.10.3 version on a USB drive using another Mac, but the scan fails with "objective busy."

It's now fixed. Lucky I could get another Mac from a friend; otherwise we'd have been in trouble.

Can’t install online, but I managed to boot into recovery and reinstall OS X Lion successfully.
