I've been using the Apple iPod Nano 5G for years to play music since my Samsung device couldn't handle it. It got corrupted—probably. My computer kept charging it overnight and it wouldn’t power on. I installed iTunes, which told me I needed to reformat the device. Easy enough, right? Wrong. I’m not sure if this is because it’s my first time using iTunes on Windows 10 or due to a recent update, but it keeps crashing during the restore process. Now I have no music for my commute, the iPod is taking up desk space, and a redundant copy of iTunes cluttering my hard drive. Thanks Apple. Are there any ways to fix iTunes on my PC? I still want to keep this iPod running for a few more months before replacing it with a new phone.

You might consider reverting to a previous setup. That's what I did with my 7th Gen Nano once the iTunes interface stopped functioning well. The earlier versions perform better than the latest ones too.

Go back to a previous version of iTunes and enable compatibility settings for Windows 7, which helped my Nano G5.
