Fixed: My new computer is experiencing frame rate drops while playing Grand Theft Auto V.
Hello everyone,
I've completed my computer assembly and installed Grand Theft Auto V as my inaugural game. However, I’m experiencing a singular problem right away—the game frequently freezes intermittently.
My display resolution is 1920 by 1080, which I’ve configured within the game settings. My hardware specifications are as follows: an Intel Core i5 9600K, a Radeon RX 5700 Mech OC graphics card, 16 gigabytes of memory, and Windows 10. I believe my system should be adequately equipped to handle this game, as it performs well approximately 70% of the time; nonetheless, I’m growing frustrated with the sporadic shifts between smooth operation and disruptive pauses and am seeking assistance in achieving consistent stability.
First possibility is RAM you do have 16Gb but still with a bunch of pages open in chrome it could still force windows to use the pagefile.
Second more probable cause is that the game has its main thread running at a high priority which **
forces windows to cut off secondary tasks until the main task finishes
...since this is a game though the main task doesn't finish until you quit the game and since the main thread needs the info from the secondary tasks to continue you get all kinds of issues from longer loading times to missing textures to stutters or slow downs.

Do not try this at home, since rockstar is known to ban people for anything and...
It’s possible you possess 16GB of memory, however, if numerous browser tabs are open in Chrome, Windows might still utilize the pagefile. A more likely explanation is that the game’s primary process operates with elevated importance, compelling Windows to temporarily suspend background activities until it completes its core operations. Because the game’s main process doesn't conclude until you close it, and this primary thread requires data from secondary tasks to proceed, various problems can arise—including extended loading periods, missing graphics, erratic pauses, or performance drops.

Attempting this isn’t advisable, as Rockstar is known to penalize users for modifying game processes and such alterations are certainly grounds for a ban. A more prudent approach is to reduce the frame rate using an FPS limiter—an action similar to what a less powerful graphics card would naturally accomplish, achieving a comparable outcome.
However, due to it being an online game, tampering with the game's processes could lead to expulsion or a permanent ban, so proceed cautiously.
I succeeded in resolving the disruptive stuttering, and I appreciate your offer of assistance. Furthermore, would you be able to assist me with a separate concern that I brought up in a previous discussion? It concerns my efforts to simply rename the file for GTA V to "GTA V," which, it seems, caused interference with its modding capabilities and subsequently led to the game unexpectedly initiating a reinstall within Steam. I’m uncertain as to how to rectify this situation. Here is the original thread: https://forums.
