I'm trying to make a picture with so many layers that it needs even more. When I start using Affinity Photo, my graphics card memory fills up fast and crashes the program right after I add a few layers. The screen goes blank and uses no memory at all. Is there any way to use less power from my graphics card while doing this? I have: Radeon RX580 8GB AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor with 16GB RAM Thanks.
Is Windows managing virtual memory settings? Configuration? Open Resource Monitor and pick the Memory tab. At the bottom of the window is a bar graph showing how much physical memory is being used. What do you see there? In the meantime, try reinstalling the GPU drivers. Manually download them from the manufacturer's website. Reinstall and reconfigure that again too. Next, reinstall Affinity software. Hopefully it's just a small bug or glitch in the program.
Or you can just ask your computer (the CPU) to handle everything, turn off the special graphics help, and watch how things go. Sometimes it works really well for the job you are doing with very little drop in speed.
