Experiencing poor frame rates in CSGO?
Seeking assistance!
Hello, I'm consistently achieving an average of 200 frames per second or lower while playing CSGO!
My system specifications are: an RTX 2080 Ti, an i7-9700k processor, 32GB of RAM, and an Asus PG279Q monitor utilizing G-Sync technology. Within the game settings, I’ve configured a resolution of 1920x1080 with all settings at the lowest level. Additionally, I’ve utilized the launch option "-novid -high -tickrate 128 +fps_max 0 -refresh 144 -freq 144". Is this a typical performance level given these configurations?
A game requiring minimal graphics processing won’t benefit from dropping from its standard 1440p display to 1080p. The RTX 2080 Ti isn't designed for 1080p gaming, and reduced graphics configurations further lighten the load on the GPU. Consequently, the central processing unit is handling almost all of the computational work, while the graphics card remains idle. Your performance metrics are typical. Furthermore, what’s considered low frame rate if your monitor can't even render it?
A game requiring minimal graphics power won’t benefit from decreasing from its original 1440p display to 1080p. The RTX 2080 Ti isn’t designed for 1080p resolution, and using reduced graphics settings further lightens the load on the GPU. Consequently, you've shifted most of the processing demands to your central processor, and it’s operating at its maximum capacity. Your performance is expected, given the circumstances. Furthermore, if your monitor can't even render lower frame rates, what’s the concern about having a low FPS?
How can I determine my Windows version?
1. Experiment with power management settings in the control panel, setting it to maximum.
2. Remove "-high" and observe your frame rate again.
3. Simply access the graphics settings with 8x MSAA and 8x texture filtering (your system is surprisingly capable, potentially achieving 300-400 frames per second – this is unusual).
4. Verify the integrity of your game files.
I recognize that CSGO heavily relies on processor performance, however, based on my hardware configurations, I anticipated consistently achieving 300 frames per second or higher at any resolution or with reduced visual quality. I observe numerous streamers and professional players maintaining averages of 400 frames per second or greater, despite possessing systems that aren’t superior to mine. Consequently, I questioned whether there was an issue with the game's performance.
Certainly... that's not precisely how it functions.
YouTube footage should be viewed with caution. You’re unlikely to know definitively what processes are active, or if any antivirus software, office applications, Adobe programs, or other system-level CPU tasks are running. These computers are configured and fine-tuned specifically for the games they showcase.
If your hardware configuration differs significantly from theirs, numerous variables can influence the results...
-Temperature levels
-Memory speed
-Storage devices
-Drivers
-Overclock settings
-The operating system
-Third-party applications
