Fix the delay issue.
Fix the delay issue.
I've been using League of Legends on Linux for some time now. At times, my ping fluctuates between 30 and 45 depending on the hour. Occasionally, during a match, all characters on the screen pause for about 5 to 10 seconds. The game doesn’t show any latency information, making it seem like every packet is being lost. It feels like packets keep disappearing, and once my ping drops from 300 to zero in just a few seconds and then back up, it repeats several times within a few minutes. This is somewhat bothersome but not too severe. I moved to Linux because on Windows my ping is around 50–70, and it spikes to 100–200 every 1–5 minutes. It’s difficult to tolerate and really frustrating. To be honest, I play on Wi-Fi with a router about 2 x 5 cm behind me. For reasons I’m not willing to discuss, I can’t change the setup. There was a time when using the same route on slower internet from the same ISP gave me a stable ping of 50–60 in Windows. My question is: what could be causing this issue and what options do I have—either on Windows or Linux? P.S.: I’m running Manjaro 21.2.0. Again, I can’t switch to Ethernet, move the router, or install a network extender or repeater.
The RSSI is approximately -65 dBm. Clients are initiating scans near this level. Consider lowering 'Roaming Aggressiveness'. Could another device be connected to the same network?
Unfortunately with WiFi the "it used to work" claim doesn’t hold any weight, since interference can stem from anything. Things like neighbors, furniture, people moving around, or even slight shifts in your PC can affect the signal. Thinking about what you can’t do, is this a desktop or a laptop? If it’s a desktop, you might be able to install an antenna with a pigtail on top of it instead of just attaching it to the back.
