Five short sounds from the motherboard.
Five short sounds from the motherboard.
Hi, I have a B760M gaming setup with DDR4, an i5 12400F, but it won’t boot past five beeps. I’ve tried swapping RAM from another brand and speed, replacing the CPU, and even testing different GPUs. Still nothing works. My new RAM and CPU are fresh purchases. Any help would be appreciated.
You're likely referring to 12400F or 13400F. Do you have experience with this? Did you properly connect your PSU cables? The system emits 5 short beeps—only patterns I've identified so far: Continuous Short Beeps suggest a power supply problem or insufficient power reaching the motherboard. This could stem from a faulty PSU or loose connections. Verify the power supply connections and confirm adequate power delivery. Or 5 beeps with no display indicates an issue with the CPU. Please share your specifications... Did you modify any CPU pins? Next time, consider using a non-F CPU. Edited November 14, 2023 by leclod
People often link speakers to their motherboards for better sound. Your case might already have one, or you can add your own. I tried recently and found it too powerful, so I turned it off. Edited by leclod on Nov 14, 2023.
I stick to the traditional way of doing things. Most of these devices came with motherboards a long time ago, and I’ve just moved them to the newer models.
Ensure the system meets the minimum requirements: 150W for the CPU and 150W for the GPU at maximum. Verify that your 400W power supply unit isn't just a marketing claim—look for a label on the PSU indicating the actual output from the 12V rail, aiming for around 400W.
GTS250 is quite outdated; if it still functions, it might struggle with modern hardware unless you connect another GPU to unlock legacy features. It would have been better to choose a 12400 "NOT F" and skip the integrated graphics entirely—the built-in ones would have been more capable and wouldn’t have caused problems.
It came with a single unit, and it’s still inside its original packaging in the box. I’ve noticed enough beeps when it was installed on the vehicle. Since... 96 and beyond...
