Today I powered up my PC and everything functioned properly. While I was absent, my mother promptly tidied up the desk and the area around the PC. After that, the display signal vanished and the monitor failed to illuminate even with a LED. When I clicked the power button on the monitor, nothing happened. I then turned off the PC, unplugged the monitor's power cable, and reconnected it. The monitor came back on. I tried restarting the PC, which produced five beeps but no display (Gigabyte Z490M). Clearing the CMOS helped a bit months ago during a similar incident when I removed the GPU, but this time it didn’t resolve the issue. I attempted various fixes—turning it off and on without a GPU, reseating RAM, using only one RAM stick in different slots, swapping HDD for SSD, clearing CMOS and booting without GPU, reseating the CPU, disconnecting the CPU fan, changing GPU drivers, and connecting a different display—but nothing worked.
No experience with 5 beeps specifically, but I have a small idea: Maybe the 24-pin/CPU 12-pin power connectors are seated poorly in the motherboard? The 24-pin on my media server is finicky and sometimes the whole computer won't turn on unless I fiddle with it. Maybe the board is getting power but the CPU isn't?
PC powered on, yet during her cleaning session near the back panel, she likely handled or adjusted some cables, causing the screen to go dark.
