First Ship
First Ship
Hey there! For your first ship, you don’t need to buy the Aurora LN first—just get the Aurora 2944 Legionnaire directly. You can pay the $10 to unlock it. If you’re looking for other ships under $80, just let me know and I’ll suggest some options! Thanks!
I started with the Freelancer and got it back in late 2013. The Aurora series is a great option for beginners, as each ship has its own unique style. I personally prefer the Aurora LN and even though I own an Avenger, I’ve considered getting one for myself because I really love it. It offers solid performance without breaking the bank, and it’s easy to maintain if you need to replace parts. Ultimately, it depends on what suits you best.
Absolutely, you're looking for a vessel designed for exploration rather than combat alone. It should handle carrying supplies and offer some protection, while still allowing you to defend yourself. Spending a significant amount means you want a reliable ship that can withstand challenges without losing everything you've invested.
Hey there, sorry for the delay. Yes, you can lose it, but the odds are low. Having insurance for the ship in-game should cover it; if it gets damaged, replacement is arranged. Just keep your policy active. The Aurora LN was designed for combat, yet it still holds the same cargo capacity as other Auroras—just the transport version has nearly double. It features a larger power plant and two extra gun mounts, making it overall stronger. While it carries some cargo, it's expected to be a smaller vessel. If you need more space, consider upgrading to a bigger ship like the Freelancer Max IMO.
Currently you're investing real currency for a vessel, but the latest SC version makes it hard to truly "lose" your ship. We offer Arena Commander which lets you maneuver your ship freely and engage in dogfights with others without risking all your funds—your ship simply restarts after death. When the game becomes fully launched and the Persistent Universe is ready, without insurance on your vessel you'll lose it if it's destroyed in space. Purchasing an Aurora package now includes some coverage, so you're safe. Let me know if this clarifies things.
I mistakenly purchased the Aurora LN package and the RSI Aurora LN upgrade, thinking it would work for the LN version, but it doesn’t fit because they’re essentially the same. I ended up buying a standard Aurora MR to apply my upgrade and now have two identical ships. It seems you can’t buy ships using game currency alone—only real money is accepted right now.
It's about spending real money, not treating it as buying a ship. However, if you need funds later to upgrade to the Freelancer Max pack, you can melt both ships and earn extra in-game credits. For example, two $45 packs melt into $90, giving you roughly $40 more to spend on the desired pack. Just keep in mind that once the PU is live, all ships can be bought with in-game currency, but right now it's mainly about supporting development while getting some return.
It features a compact cargo space with a reasonable price. You can operate it solo to maximize trading potential, though adding a second crew member allows for rear turret defense. It includes four gimbal-mounted guns and a substantial missile payload, making it effective against front-facing threats. Two TR5 thrusters provide strong straight-line speed without being overly fast. At this price, it offers balanced performance across cargo, defense, offense, speed, and efficiency. Your current purchase and initial vessel. Reaching out to support may result in a refund; otherwise, consider melting it for store credit. Larger ships aren't necessary unless you aim to fund development. With alpha access, you can join Arena Commander and accumulate RECs. Once you have sufficient credits, you can hire bigger ships and weapons for a week using them.
