Hello. My computer was hit by lightning, it came through the lan cable, mobo fried. Custom pc, asus 1150 mobo, i7 4770. So I've got a dell optiplex mobo 48DY8 on ebay, I have read the info about various pinouts and headers present in dell cases. However since the motherboard I acquired is new, it prompts the Dell Service Menu with the AMT options and service tag input. It says that the service tag cannot be changed after it is set, I am afraid I can mess things up. I have no clue what to do here. Please advice. Thank you.

On the Dell support site, you'll find a self-help knowledge base section for locating service tags on desktops.

I need to clarify that I don’t use Dell products or own a Dell CPU case with an ST label. I’m just swapping the motherboard to get my system working again. There are only a few 1150 mobos left, and this Dell model seemed okay for replacement (though it has some tricky pin configurations). I worry I could damage the board if I mess up the Dell service settings—I’ve never seen anything like this before. All I want is for my computer to function properly without needing Dell support. Thanks.

I forgot about this earlier. I just shared the link instead of leaving a comment. That’s how they secure the original equipment manufacturer hardware so it remains tied to the owner, including the included case. Apologies for the inconvenience.
