First RAM position isn't functioning properly.
I bought a 16GB 3200 kit for my PC recently. Before that, I had a 16GB 3600 model installed. I was trying to upgrade to the new RAM, but it didn’t work. The CPU light turned red—maybe I mixed them up. I changed the memory placement and it booted, but the first RAM slot still wouldn’t show up. I removed the new 3200 MHz unit and kept the 3600, placing it in the first and third slots. Even then, the first slot didn’t recognize anything, not in BIOS either. Could this be due to a faulty motherboard or CPU?
Things that make you go hmmm... Look closely at the DIMMs to verify they are all the same (all single rank or dual rank, same part #, etc). I've gotten parts before that had the wrong part in the box. Also check slot markings to verify A1 B1, etc. I would also verify whether either kit is supported on the manufacturer's compatibility list. Absence from the list doesn't guarantee it WON'T work, but it doesn't guarantee it WILL, either. Another thought -- I have a B550 board that doesn't recognize my RAM at the timings recommended by the board manufacturer. Very strange. Board manufacturer lists the kit at 16-18-18-36 1.35V 3200 Mhz, but DOCP detects them at 20-20-20-40. Won't POST with the clock frequency at 3200 unless I use those detected timings. Whether this is a mistake on the manufacturer's site or a new version of this kit they weren't aware of, I'm not sure. But weird stuff can happen with RAM, that's for sure. It seems you forgot to include something important. I could have altered the BIOS settings or updated it, depending on what works best for your installation. If your sibling often does this, I suggest using a UPS battery backup. Edited February 12, 2023 by An0maly_76 Updated with additional details

It might be a good idea to restart the BIOS before proceeding.
