I just completed a 400 turn normal game on Archipelago. I really appreciated the new twist on civilization, though some aspects felt a bit off. It seems my map choice might have played a role, as aliens appeared to be more of a problem than I expected. I didn’t land on any islands—probably because of the kraken and nests nearby. The constant attacks from the next island over in player vs player conflicts felt too much, even though I spent most turns fighting. The random events seemed unbalanced and needed more tweaks. One decision stood out: choosing to protect trade routes from aliens versus adding extra safety tiles for fences. I went with the latter, but later had to work hard to clear my shipping lanes. The last thing that bothered me was the weak link between factions in the game, especially when it came to the story moments. I know it wasn’t possible to fix that, but I miss the feel of beating Ghandi the warlord while saving Genghis Khan. Still, I spent six hours playing Civ:BE and it’s a win in my mind—what do others think?
