Flash functions well alongside Firefox. I added an extension in Firefox to make YouTube use Flash instead of HTML5. This gives me 1080p at 30fps, whereas HTML5 pushes 1080p at 60fps without a 30fps choice. First, disable all extensions in Firefox and create a new profile. For testing, simply close Firefox, navigate to the hidden AppData folder, rename the "Mozilla" directory to "Mozilla_old", then to the Local folder. Ensure you have the newest Flash version and updated graphics drivers. Launch Firefox and check if YouTube operates correctly.

It functioned properly, yet I also attempted a restart and it resumed lagging again.

You asked for clarification on what restarting means. Did the issue get resolved or was it sent back? I'm here to explain.

I tried your directions and the lag disappeared. Then I restarted Firefox to check if it would remain free, but it didn’t work, so it’s still an issue.

Ah ok. So to restore things back, Close Firefox, and just delete "Moxilla" folders, and rename "Mozilla_old" back to "Mozilla" on both Local and Roaming folders noted previously. This is what you I would do: -> Make sure your sound card drivers are fully updated. Re-install them if you have to. -> If you have haven't don this already (same for the following point) make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. -> Make sure that you have the latest version of Flash player plugin.

I already fixed it once it didn’t work. I looked at the updates yesterday, and everything was updated afterward.

Really bad, the video is lagging on 360p. Probably better using Chrome instead of YouTube.

I’m not sure what’s causing the issue with your setup. At my workplace I use a GTX 980 and don’t encounter any of the problems you mention. I’m curious if the problem might relate to audio, internet speed, or driver conflicts. I’d definitely check that out. If you have time and extra storage, I’d even try a clean setup: unplug the main drive, install a fresh copy of Windows, apply updates, add Firefox without any personal files, and test everything quickly. If it works, update all drivers and see if things remain stable.

I found this quite amusing. Chrome caused me a lot of trouble, especially on YouTube. Reinstalling it seemed to fix everything, but then it would crash again later. Firefox worked perfectly for me. It’s strange how people have such different experiences with the same tool—what one person loves, another might find frustrating. Both options are solid. I’m sticking with Firefox and Edge as backups. If Edge improves, I might give it a shot for its device integration and touch features. It’s still not fully ready though.
